ENCORE PRESENTATION! Sunday, October 24th 2004, San Francisco Public Library, Civic Center, Koret Auditorium 100 Larkin Street 2 P.M., Featured readings from the cookbook, a reading by Bruce Kellner about his visit with Alice, a scene from a new play, Cooking With Alice B., by Hans Gallas, and an Alice film tribute! Bruce Kellner began reading and later collecting Gertrude Stein's books nearly sixty years ago. He is a professor emeritus at Millerville University, near Lancaster, Pennsylania, and successor trustee for the Estate of Carl Van Vechten. Among his publications are A Gertrude Stein Companion: Content With The Example (1988),The Major Works of Gertrude Stein, in sixteen volumes (1995), and The Harlem Renaissance: A Historical Dictionary for the Era (1984). Also, he has written biographies of Ralph Barton, Van Vechten, and Donald Windham, and he has edited the letters of artist Charles Demuth. His most recent publications are Kiss Me Again (including the memoir about Alice B. Toklas, 2001) and an edition of Van Vechten's day books, The Splendid Drunken Twenties (2003). The event is produced and directed by Hans Gallas.
